Master of My Universe

Holy crap. Our munchkin is over eight-and-a-half months-old. For those of you who followed me through my post-partum months (remember THIS entry?) I am long past my exhausted-frustrated-crying phase of mommyhood and am now in the triumphant-relieved-amused phase. I am in total, utter love with the ankle biter. Josh and I feel so lucky to have someone so incredible in our lives. I know I'm totally gushing, but look...

Behold. Our budding foodie.
Ordering up a storm at Umami Burger. "Got milk?" (The answer is, "No.")

OMG. So filial!
Helping her Ma fold her Pa's undies. What fun.

With my mini-me finally under control, le hubby and I went on our first Sundate (Sunday date) yesterday. We ventured out for brunch and a movie sans baby. (She chillaxed at home with the nanny.) We grabbed a very adult brunch at Barney Greengrass and then caught a viewing of Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom. Though physically away from Olive all morning-afternoon, neither of us were able to refrain from talking about nor avoid sharing iPhone photos of her during our short time away. Which leads me to point out...

It's a good thing we're obsessed with this baby. I hear there's a strict no-returns-policy when it comes to this sort of thing :)

Doodles to come.

There's a Puppy in the House

Olive: Daddy, daddy, Beans did it.
Le Hubby: *skeptical* (Rightfully so.)

Olive: Why won't you believe me?

Olive: Mommy?

Some of you have been wondering whether or not Beans and Olive have been getting along. Yes, folks. They have been. Royally. Beans understands there's a new puppy in the house and has been incredibly accommodating since her arrival. He sniffs Olive's belongings and tiny feet, but is fully-aware that everything munchkin-related is off-limits to him. We are very proud of him. The dynamic in our household has certainly changed - with the baby being priority one - and we're all learning to adjust. Le hubby and I try our best to let him know he's still very-much loved. At the same time, we uphold strict house rules for him.

Like us, Beans is scared of the baby. Especially when she cries. I don't blame him. I hear you, Beans. Olive's cry can be deafening. If I could fit under a chair or curl up and fit in a doggy bed (like Beans), I'd probably do the same...

Favorite Things

Olive may only be 10 days old, but she's already exuding some mayjah personality.

She's already got "LIKES" - or so I've decided. Breast milk aside, pipsqueak digs...

1) Secrets with daddy.

2) Eskimo kisses

3) Froggy rattle from Uncle Jon (my brother)

Olive, you're my favorite thing.

Old Maid

I am strangely comfortable being one.

Spent my 32nd birthday indoors, rotting at the St. Regis at Dana Point with le hubby. (Thank you, cub.) T'was a most divine weekend filled with good eats. Michael Mina lobster pot pie, root beer floats, warm chocolate-chip cookies. My hubby knows how to treat a fat lady. Sure beats the meals of McNuggets I'd been ingesting the week prior!

Le hubs and I imagine we won't be able to easily pick and go for spontaneous getaways once the womb raider decides to make her much-anticipated grand appearance. That said, we've been savoring each and every minute of alone time we could...

Boo.

Carved pumpkins alongside fellow animators (Jeff, Alexis and Mary). SO MUCH FUN!

The dim lil' guy (bottom left) is the work of my talented hubby. His first jack-o-lantern ever...

So Much to be Thankful For

My crazy, but ultimately loving family. Yep, that's my dad. I'm a spitting image :) Here we are at my wedding enjoying our father-daughter dance to "You're Nobody Til Somebody Loves You"...

My dog, Beans. I love my furry son so much, it really does hurt. To love so intensely, that is.

My cub. Words can't describe how lucky I am to have found such a kind, patient and funny partner-in-crime. Oh wait. Using words to describe how lucky I am. That's what I'm doing now, huh? D'oh.

Wishing you all a Thanksgiving as happy as mine.

Photos: It's all Max.

Muppet Babies

a vintage photo of le cub and his siblings on halloween - courtesy of le cub's sister (also MY sister) jenny. how cute are they?!? that they're using happy meal packaging as their means of toting about their spoils makes this photo that much better...

oh yeah. in case you were wondering, le cub's the one dressed as kermit :)

It's Always Sunny...

When le cub is around. He brought me flowers! Just because. And they aren't just any flowers. They're SUNflowers! I took this photo because I thought the combination of three of the six flowers resemble the face of my favorite yorkie (Hammy's pup, Shady). Didn't realize I'd fail to crop out my nasty legs... Wahaha... Mutant sunflowers!

LOVE.

A Little Pick Me Up

Even cougars get sad sometimes. Don't know what it is, but every so often, my female hormones get the best of me, and I get uncontrollably cranky. The world "owes me" for absolutely no reason, and I become a wretched human being. I'm not proud of this...

This morning, I woke moodier than a 70s mood ring (remember those?!). Luckily, le cub came to the rescue and made everything better when he surprised me at the place of my internship during lunch hour with an ice-cream sundae picnic. He brought a cooler with Breyer's cookies and cream ice-cream, a blanket, a bowl, two spoons, and a banana, and right then and there, parked in a Ralph's parking lot, the mood tides changed...

This cougar is very, VERY lucky to have found herself this incredibly patient cub. *hearts for eyes*

Greater Than, Lesser Than

My grandma used to tell me that it's best to be with someone who loves you more than you love them. "You'll be happier that way," she said. Yes, well, I ask le cub this question all the time. "Between the two of us, who loves the other person more?" Le cub always tells me that he loves me more. But I know the truth... you just have to look into my nauseatingly adoring eyes to know who wears the pants. AAAAAARGH! Feeeeeelings!!! NOOOOOOOO!

White Dog

Unlike most dogs, Beans knows that he's a dog. That said, I think Beans thinks that le cub is also a dog. A white dog. He gets jealous when I spend more time with "white dog" than I do with him. And when the white dog and I sit next to each other on our couch, Beans gets nervous and insists on being the sandwich stuffing. Hehe.

P.S. For those of you who aren't following, "le cub" is my fiance. He's a tad bit younger than me - which makes me his cougar :) RAWR!

"If I tell you I love you, do I get to keep you?"

The merriest of birthday's to my macho-macho man.
