Trips Ahoy
Le cub and I were in the Big Apple this past weekend, and yes, we saw lots, ate lots, and shopped lots. Well, window-shopped lots. Ever the patient fella', he spent a grand total of 6 hours at ABC Carpet & Home with yours truly. What can I say? The shop is beautiful. It's a museum, really... and I was mesmerized by the thought of furnishing our future home (more about that later) in ABC's delectable ware. Dreams do come true, you know... Pictured: Snapshot of the beautiful walnut table at Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s ABC Kitchen. (Isn't it goooorgeous?) Yep, the shop has a restaurant on its lower level. And yes, we ate there. C'mon... 6 hours! The decor is rustic... hip... whimsical. I ate it ALL up, dammit. So frickin' good. The decor and the food!

Made with Love
tried an award-winning chocolate-chip cookie recipe yesterday. it involved instant pudding mix! i think the mix definitely helped keep the cookies chewy, but they were still a tad too fluffy for my liking... i like my cookies slightly crispy on the outside, yet chewy on the inside. will continue to experiment... really wanted to bake a giant heart-shaped cookie, but i knew better...

Fast Food
le husband and i have discovered a hole-in-the-wall sushi joint that serves up sushi combos (as pictured) for $9.95. such a bargain! (not pictured, the minimalist salad.) sushi don in valley village is wonderful. the fish is uber-fresh, and the service is incredibly fast. and gosh, if the food there is good enough for glee's ab-blessed mike chang (aka "the other asian") it's good enough for us. (he, too, was enjoying a sunday meal at 2pm.)

The Puddle State

July Fourth in Minnesota has become a tradition for me and le cub. Things I love about our trips to his home state...1) Le cub's mom's home-cooking. Comfort.
2) Minnehaha. It's the name of a street. I crack-up everytime we cross. Mini-Ha-Ha. Get it?
3) Le cub's friends. They're THE BEST. Had I never met le cub, I'd still be friends with these folks.
4) No sales tax on clothes means new swim trunks for le cub and new jeans for me.
5) Caribou Coffee. I had a "Mint Condition" every single day I was there. T'was like drinking a mug of Andes mint chocolates. That's a good thing.

So Fresh and So Clean

Inspired by photos like the one above (plucked from emmas design blog), I have been casually collecting old frames, photographs and artwork from thrift shops and flea markets for months. A couple images more, and we (le cub and I) will be able to start hammering away... Can't wait to share the results.
And omigosh, my dream home HERE. It's already been sold, so it's a no-go. But isn't it just incredible?

Feel the Need to Feed

I'm not preggers like Joanna or Madge, but it's nearly that time of the month, and I'm totally feeling the need to feed.
Mint Oreo Fudge Cremes (a new product available at Target) have got the Girl Scouts beat. Trust me. They're amazing. I'm not a junk food fiend by any means, but these cookies... oh my. I literally salivate when I walk towards the cabinet that houses them. Yes, I'm no better than my dog, Beans. Pathetic, really.
Hmm. I should probably go give him a cookie (of the doggy variety) now. The power of empathy.
Pictured: Baby Beans feeding. Doodles to come... I promise.
