No Reservations

Evening with Anthony Bourdain at UCLA was incredibly entertaining.
It was like an episode of No Reservations, LIVE!
Only we didn't get to go anywhere.
And didn't get to watch him eat anything.
Okay.
So it wasn't like watching an episode of his show.
T'was more like a book reading.
Only BETTER.

Can't wait to read our signed copy of "Medium Raw"...

Roman Holiday

Le cub and I have been really slow to plan our honeymoon to Italy, but we've finally begun! Airfare has been booked as have our accommodations in Rome. Check out the uber-cute boutique hotel we'll be staying at while ROMEing (It's RIGHT next to the Spanish Steps!): Mario De' Fiori 37

Now for transport to Amalfi, Sicily and Sardinia...

This is going to be fun.

Playing Catch Up

Bachelorette marathon courtesy of Hulu at my place.

Thoughts?
1) My pick. Roberto! *love*
2) Kasey and his genuine heart scare me. He sounds like Kermit. No wait. That's an insult to Kermit.
3) The Weatherman. Chris Kattan with performance anxiety.
4) The Wrestler. Is he really that bad?
5) Frank. You need to keep your glasses on.
6) Chris L. *likey*

Rose ceremonies are so entertaining. As the men await the rose handouts, I can't help but liken the way they look at Ali to the way Beans looks at me. Only Beans doesn't want roses. He wants cookies :)

I look like a monchichi. Then again, so does Rod Blagojevich. Click HERE to see for yourself.

One Man's Trash... Is Another Man's Treasure

I LOVE the artist, Marie Laurencin. I was first exposed to her charming work in Paris at the Musee de l'Orangerie... some people fall in love with Monet's Water Lilies... Me? I fell in love with Laurencin's Portrait of Miss Chanel - a portrait which Mademoiselle Chanel rejected.

Anyhow, I'm a frequent supporter of Housing Works, a community-based AIDS service organization in the United States that runs multiple social enterprises that help pay for services they provide, spread awareness of their mission, and provide jobs to graduates of their Job Training Program. One of their social enterprises is a chain of upscale thrift shops located throughout New York City. When you make a donation to or purchase from a Housing Works shop, you're giving a second chance to the more than 2,500 homeless HIV-positive New Yorkers the group serves each year... Guilt-free shopping. My favorite kind.

My latest find? A real score. A signed Marie Laurencin lithograph of the portrait "Juliette" (1920). SO FREAKIN' LUCKY!!! Am eagerly awaiting its arrival and will take better photos of it when it arrives.

How big a deal is this? This exact litho is currently hanging at the MoMA in New York City. Click HERE to see.

Alejandro

Le cub's super funny brother and sister-in-law sent us our first wedding gift!!! Meet "Ale-Alejandro"! ("Alejandro" for short.) He's a grizzly bear tuffet. Adorable, no? We love him. A welcome addition to le cub and cougar's grown-up living room. *teehee* Beans digs him too!

Happy Feet

Every day should sparkle like these shoes. My shoes. I love them so much I can marry them. But I can't. Because I'm marrying le cub. My bad.

Ukulele Girl

"If you don't know me by now... you will never ever ever know me... ooh...oohOOH!"

Er, yes. Well. If you knew me well, you'd know that I'd made plans to learn to play the ukulele once the school year wrapped up. I aspire to be as good, if not better, than YouTube doppleganger, "Ukulele Boy." Click HERE to see.

And should I get GOOD, I am going to get one of the above-pictured ukes. (Available via etsy HERE.) Me to this heart-shaped uke is Taylor Swift to her bedazzled guitar.

Alrighty. Going to go research ukes now.

Nitey-nite!

It Takes Two!

I'm done doing my part of the design-work for the cub and cougar wedding invites and am now relying on the talented Megan of MaeMae Paperie to finish off the final leg! Check out MaeMae's blog HERE.

Love that we've had the opportunity to meet so many talented individuals during our wedding planning process!!!

Pictured: Sample of MaeMae's work. Charming, no? They're not my invitations though :)

At Last

Til Death Do Us Part

Til Death Do Us Part from Debra Chow on Vimeo.

ALL DONE. (Well, no... tweaks still need to be made, but this is what I screened at last week's Festival of Animation at UCLA.)

Tip: To avoid having to watch the video lag (BOOOOOO), let the entire short run through once (buffer, buffer, buffer - on mute?!?) before your official viewing. Enjoy!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY LITTLE BROTHER!!!
You're officially old.

Business Time

Now that my short is done (kinda sorta... still need to edit the levels on my sound, switch out some of the temp sound effects, fix some of the keyed scenes, and ooh, color correct that whole darn thing), I can focus on planning an uber-fun wedding. First things first. ME! Wahaha. Still casually looking around for "something" to stick on my head in lieu of a veil. I'm wearing my hair up - either in a knot or side-pony. Had initially planned on sporting some real flowers, but it was pointed out to me that the flowers will wilt pretty early on in the evening...

What do we think about this lil' sparkler? It's by the girls at ban.do...

Oh, How Bazaar

Foie gras cotton candy at The Bazaar. The things chefs come up with... amaaaaazing!

Twinkle Toes

Mother of Pearl Repetto Ballet Flats? Why, yes. (Purchased a while back, but I didn't have the time to debut them until now...)

By the way, did you know that the holes in abalone shells are actually abalone assholes? TMI?

Liberace Would Be Proud

Beans is jealous of my other love. Kate Spade sequined peep-toes!!!
50% off and in my size. *gasp* I just couldn't resist...

Viva Italia!

Our tickets have been bought!!! Can't wait for our honeymoon!

Oh. And the wedding, of course!

Say AHH!

Improv puppetry featuring my right hand and puppet, Bianca. Think Real Housewives of Bravo meets Transylvania. At the dentist. Random, much? Yeah.

At Last

2010's UCLA Festival of Animation aka "Prom" has officially come to a close. And I'm so very happy to say that the blood, sweat and tears truly paid off :)

More about the incredibly memorable day to come...

Photo: SOME of the talented animators of UCLA. An adorable bunch. And yes, they really are as fun as they look in photo! (I'm in the bottom shot with one of my workshop besties, Alexis...muah-haha.)

Interests

I have a confession. I love scratching my head. But only at the end of the day. Because if you do earlier on during the day, your head scalp will release oils and then your head will, well, smell like scalp. Not a good smell.

I take particular interest in scratching my head when the weather is dry. I like watching flakes of dandruff flutter down onto my dark walnut floors. Yes, you heard me. I like to watch dandruff FLUTTER.

Sometimes the flakes are actually scabs. Scabs from my previous head scratch. Eew. I know. I'm gross. But I'm feeling awfully honest at this very moment and just thought I'd share a bit of me with you. Eew. You don't like me anymore, do you?

My best friend, "Hammy" arrives today. She shares this same interest. I can't wait for her arrival!!!

Photo of my feet. And le cub's feet. Taken by the amazing Max Wanger.
