It's been a while since my last post. B-school's keeping be mucho busy! More about b-school to come...

But hey, what'd everyone think of last night's Emmy's?! My fav moment was Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart, and Steve Carell's fake victory. They looked so happy!

P-oodle

A painting doodle. That which can be accomplished in 20 minutes.

Fuji Apple

Taco Time

I have been consuming way too many tacos. *Everyone* I've been dining with as of late has insisted on dining Mexican. That said, within these past two weeks, I've had tacos at Don Antonio's (Spencer's favorite place to eat on "The Hills"), Tito's Tacos (a pretty fantastic, though somewhat ghetto, hole-in-the-wall), and Pink Taco (Harry Morton's upscale taco joint). But I have yet to have any Taco Time tacos. Something's terribly wrong. Don't know what Taco Time is? Work "the Google"!

Red Whistle

I bought all the equipment I'll need to survive my camping trip. A whole lot of booty is involved when one goes camping. Who would've thunk?! Anyhoooo, my favorite purchase is my bright-red whistle. I'm supposed to blow on it when lost. Here's hopin' I won't have to use it!

Granola

I'm going camping for my very first time next week. I'll be at Yosemite for 3 nights! There better be s'mores!

Kryptonite

For Beans.
For me.

New and Improved

Did y'all know that Lucky Charms came out with a version that's got extra four-leaf clovers? G-g-g-genius! And did y'all know that Lucky Charms also came out with a version that's chocolatey? B-b-b-brilliant! In case you were wondering, I've been spending a good amount of time combing the cereal aisle since moving down to LA. While some students' diets revolve around pizza & beer, others' revolve around ramen. And then there's ME...

Life's Beachy

Venice Beach, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Laguna Beach... I know I still have a few to go, but considering the fact that I've only been here for a little over two weeks, I think I've become quite the beach beast.

Happy Birthday, Beans

The pup turned 1 today. Here he is enjoying his birthday breakfast of doggy pie nestled amidst his usual (but favorite) Costco kibble.

Happy Days

A bunch of my middle-school guy friends were in town this past weekend for a bachelor party. Somehow they found the time to meet up with lil' ol' me. Miso lucky. The five of us (not including Beans--he came too) strolled about Westwood and UCLA campus reminiscing the high school summer we'd spent bunking at Dykstra Hall together. Aww. Anyhow, after grabbing some grub at Hurry Curry and overrated fro-yo at Pinkberry, we caught a showing of "Superbad." T'was super good.

Jell-O

It's Saturday night and I'm sitting at home all by my lonesome-self (no wait, I've got Beans) watching "My Best Friend's Wedding" on cable. It's a romantic comedy. But at the moment, I'm not feeling the comedy. This is one depressing film...

My favorite line in the movie is when Jules (Julia Roberts) tells Kimmy (Cameron Diaz), "Crème brûlée can never be Jell-O. YOU could never be Jell-O."

You know... I'm Jell-O. But as the movie reveals, Jell-O typically doesn't bag the happy ending.

Wanted

Uber-fresh slices of raw fish. Kampachi, aji, uni... I need some SoCal recommendations!

Ate at "The Counter," a build-your-own burger joint, with my friend, Lydia and cousin, Jen for lunch yesterday. Mmm... BEEF. Shortly after ingesting a monstrous patty topped with a fried egg, no less, Jen and I attacked the trendy boutiques along Robertson and Hillary Rush on Third for some quality US Weekly-worthy goods.

Our last stop of the day was "Toast" on Third. Our light meals of soup and salad were ultimately followed up by a slice of rich chocolate cake for Jen and a delectable red velvet cupcake for me. Yes, life's shweeeet.

Tales of Italy

Pictured is the sweet old man Pammy and I paid to scribble a caricature of us during our visit to the Piazza Navona. We'd passed his stand on our first evening in Rome and Pammy was quick to point out that he was the only artist without any business. *sniffles* On our second night in Rome, we ventured out there again only to find that he was still sitting before an easel all by himself with no business. Out of pity, Pam and I ended up forking over 20 euros and posed for a combo piece. How bad could he be? *silence* Yes, well, you don't see a posting of the final outcome here, do you?

The good news is, after our sitting, he landed many more customers. None of whom are pictured here.

All the good ones are taken. Jimmy Fallon is engaged, and I'm sad!

Check this out.
It's Mandy "Candy" Moore covering Rihanna's "Umbrella" and it's surprisingly good!

Hotdogs and Cheeseburgers

I'm all moved-in! And as much as I hate to admit it, I'm liking it here. The weather's nice, the food is good, and ooh, the people are pretty -- at least those on the Westside. But I seriously doubt that all these good-looking, in-shape folks consume a whole lot, if any, hotdogs and cheesebugers. Pity.

Good-bye, Hello

Good-bye San Francisco, Hello Los Angeles. I'm back in the Bay from Italia but only for today. Movers are arriving at three. Ugh. Pictured: Pammy and I jumping for joy! Me in Rome; Pam in Venice.

Waste of Space - No. 1

I know what boys like.
Not.

Major

Posh & Becks have come to America. Why this is of importance of me, I do not know. But it is. I even watched her one-hour "reality" show last night. Completely staged, but loads of fun. That chick is fabulous.

Snuck out for a super late showing of the latest Harry Potter flick on IMax. In 3D, for that matter! T'was my first time... Noteworthy: Only a portion of the movie is meant to be viewed wearing 'em goofy glasses. And when the moment arrived, three eye-glass icons flashed across the bottom of the screen illiciting giggles out of yours truly...

Discovery

Illustration Friday entry. Topic: Discovery
Digging for gold.

Pilgrimage

There are, supposedly, eleven 7-11 turned Kwik-E-Marts scattered across our glorious country until the end of July. Seeing that one of these eleven of four-thousand 7-11 turned Kwik-E-Marts is located a mere 30 minutes away from my home, I decided to make the drive to Mountain View this morning before work to pay respect to Apu and the gang. To my disappointment, there was no Apu behind the counter to greet me, nor were there any Buzz O' Cola or Krusty O's left for me to purchase as souveniers. There was, however, a Squishee machine and ooh, sprinkle and pink-frosting-covered donuts. Mmm... donut!

Two Thumbs Up

Caught a showing of "Transformers" last Friday with Pams. Two thoughts. One, those folks in Hollywood are amazing. How did they do that? Two, why'd they let Optimus Prime live? (Woops, was I suppose to post a spoiler alert?) The boss dies in the animated feature film, so why not stay true to the cartoon? Damn Spielberg probably wants to milk the franchise for more money. And I, sadly, will, like a lemming, find my way to the theater for Transformers, Round Two. Sucker!

Ever listen to the music of Nya Jade? Yeah, well, me neither -- that was, until this past weekend. But you totally should! I caught her at the Rockit Room on Clement this past weekend, and she was amazing. She's like a blend of Sade, Tori Amos, and Regina Spektor (if I most compare). A talented woman. Was invited to the musical showcase by a friend who's friends with her hubby, "Mr. Lieb" aka founder of Evite. Neat-o.

A very merry birthday to you, NS.

Oldie But Goodie

Can't fall asleep, so I have been packing up my apartment. Found this sketch within an old drawing pad. One that includes oodles of doodles of yours truly as a superhero, er, heroine.

Happy Birthday, Daddy

Dahlias, Daahhhling

As a reward to myself for my hardwork cleaning & packing-up the apartment, I bought myself these flowers. They remind me of peach-flavored Jelly Bellys. Bellies? Bellys? Help! I'm a moron.

Picture This

My boy at Ocean Beach. Weather was somewhat chilly, so no one else was out. Lonesome, much? Nah... he didn't seem to mind.
It's an unfortunate situation. I've become "that guy." "That guy" at the dining table who's constantly checking her BlackBerry. Even on Sundays! (Will & Doris, I'm so sorry!)LOOOOOOOSER.

Now if only y'all knew what I actually peruse on my little friend. Guilty Google of the week: "MTV Laguna Beach L.C." Dude, the show isn't even on anymore.

You're Special

NOT!

An article titled, "Blame It on Mr. Rogers: Why Young Adults Feel So Entitled" has been printed in today's Wall Street Journal.
According to some, the cardigan-clad sweetheart was doing us all a disservice with his self-esteem-building patter. He fed young minds with, "You're special," when in actuality, according to "experts," he should have been helping us face the cold truth that we all have "a lot of room for improvement."

Sad.

Patriot Act

A very merry Independence Day to you all!

Congratulations to Joey Chestnut of San Jose! Dude hoovered 66 dogs to defeat reigning world-champ Takeru Kobayashi's record of 63 dogs at the annual Nathan's dog eating contest in Brooklyn. Bit beastly?
