New Additions

Ones that do not cry :)

A $3.50 Rose Bowl Flea Market find. (Not including the frame. I picked this intentionally-gaudy gold frame out at Aaron Brother's 1-Cent Frame Sale). Yes, what you see is Bob's Big Boy... floating in a toilet.

On a fancier note? On its way to le cub and cougar home is another piece of art... One to celebrate with champagne - and fried chicken. A lithograph of Murakami Takashi's DOB: And then and then and then and then and then in rust (2006). I know this image has been seen everywhere (Murakami is, after all, Japan's answer to Warhol)... but his work, along with Yoshitomo Nara's have long been the source of inspiration for all of mine. I bid for this piece in an auction on artnet hoping I'd win, and holy-crap, I did!!! DOB is the boss of Murakami's character empire. It was only fitting that I target him first. Want to see more of Murakami's work? HERE is a lil' video on the man and his Versaille exhibition (held earlier this year). Ahhhh. Genius.

Just so y'all know, Beans approves of le cub and cougar's current collection of work. Once everything is displayed properly, a lil' art tour is due. Speaking of art, the LA Art Show is taking place in January... I'll be there. Obvi.

Epic

Le hub and I have been back in the States for a couple of days now, and we've had a moment to reflect upon our whirlwind trip back to Taipei this holiday season.

Back home, my parents threw us a HUGE wedding reception at a really luxe hotel, and well, let's just say that the party was nothing short of EPIC. We entered the filled banquet hall on a cloud of dry ice (all our entrances should be so grand! haha), a "food show" prefaced a 12-course meal, and wait for it, the President of Taiwan, Ma Ying-Jeo, was in attendance. A high school friend of my father's and a college friend of my mother's, the gracious man stayed the entire length of the party! A real honor. Yes, my parents have clout... (they're effin' cool.) Pity le hub and I don't. But seeing these photos, you'd never know :) Yes, that's us waving good-bye to our 500 wedding guests at the end of the evening as if we're William and Kate. WTF.

All kidding aside, thank you, Mom and Dad, for a truly memorable and "baller" party.

A Whole Lot of Naughty...

and a teensy bit of nice...

Christmas 2010 was all sorts of wonderful. Le cub and I baked and ate buttery chocolate-chip cookies and watched Banksy's "Exit Through the Gift Shop". It's the first movie I've watched utilizing my brand new Netflix subscription. (Thank you, cub!) A clever lil' documentary or mockumentary that I'm just going to assume is "authentic" - at least until someone (Banksy) admists otherwise.

Our Handsome Boy

One of Beans' many Christmas gifts. A doggy tie!
Needless to say, he hates it.

Bursting at the Seams

... with talent. My friend, Jeff, put this lil' video together of our recent trip to NYC. I hate being photographer/video'd, as you will see, but gosh........ how awesome an editing job is this? VERY...

It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas

Cassius catches Harriet munching on baked-goods left out for Santa. Shocked to see that Harriet had fallen off her Weight Watcher wagon, he blurts, "My wife is a light eater. As soon as it's light, she starts to eat." Harriet pretends not to hear. (quoting comedian Henny Youngman)

Battle Royale

Conan and Andy take on Taiwanese animators.
They should know better than to mess with the inhabitants of a renegade province.
My stomach hurts from laughing... help.

The Time Has Come

For me to start editing my very last paper... YAY!

Pictured: One of my commissions. Yes, those are hula-hoops. And yes, that is pit-hair. I'm obsessed.

So Close and Yet So Far

Working on the last term paper I will ever have to write. Believe me. It hurts.

Moot, Much?

Fred and Mick discuss the merits of jeggings versus jorts. This is funny, seeing that penguins cannot wear either. (Shot inspired by the great Diane Arbus. See below.)

Ahh.

Balloons (Midtown, Manhattan) by Youngna Park. Available at 20x200. So pretty. Makes me want to reenact scenes from Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette...

Great Expectations

Slow Moe's wife, Flo has asked to have "everything" for Christmas - to which Moe cleverly responded with a Stephen Wright quote. "You can't have everything. Where would you put it?"

It's a Wonderful Life

J'adore Dior.

Admiring my new flats while typing up one last term paper...
And did I mention that Harry Connick, Jr. is serenading me Christmas tunes in the background?
Ahh... Life is good. Life is great.

In the Dumps

Spotted. Oscar the Grouch settling into new digs far-far-away from Sesame Street.

Fellow Muppets gasped when they heard the news.

(Top photo taken from the High Line. Bottom photo taken in FAO Schwarz.)

Toppers

Check out our well-nourished mermaid tree topper! Isn't she beautiful? She hails from Mexico, but my friend, Alexis, bought her from me while we were out and about in NYC. I've named her "Zoila" (after Jeffrey Lewis' kick-ass, telenovela-loving cleaning lady on "Flipping Out") and I think she's a most wonderful addition to our sparkly tree.

LOTS of photos from NYC to come. I lugged "Matt" (my Nikon D70) on this trip and he came out to play rather frequently... My fingers were a frozen mess as I snapped away, but that was the price I was willing to pay...

East Bound

New York City, here I come. Le hub and I landed free tickets to NYC (courtesy of an Expedia promo), so we're off! Along for the ride? Fellow animators, Jeff and Alexis. (We are lego.) Needless to say, all four of us are very excited. The Big Apple during the holidays?! What more can a girl ask for? Photos of this totally-tubular trip to come. Fo sho.
