In Good Company

The photographs of my incredibly talented friend, Cydney Puro - whom I've raved about before (read here) - are being featured in the too-cool-for-school online publication, This is Paper. Her work is gorgeous and rad. Take a look HERE.

Thank you, Shoko, for featuring Angela Deane's charming ghost paintings on your blog. This weirdo is now inspired. Once I wrap up my existing work projects, you can best bet that I will be "ghosting" some family photographs in the style of awesome Angela. Booyah!

Little Miss Sunshine

Remember the munchkin room makeover that I began but *AHEM* never finished? That's right. I'm a sucky mama. Since taking the above snapshot, I've had curtains installed and her crib moved in, but I never did get around to hanging artwork or light fixtures up. Lucky for Olive, I've spent these past two weeks swimming in a sea of fixtures and finishes for other projects, and ooh, I came across this lovely being:

Feast your eyes, folks. Isn't this Cord Pendant lovely? Simple, but luxe. My incredibly talented friend, Brendan Ravenhill, designed it, and I think it'd look crazy-sexy-cool hanging in the middle of the nugget's room.

Miss Olive has a photo session with THIS too-cool-for-school photographer on Sunday, and I'm hoping I can pull my poop together by then. Miracles happen, you know.

Abstract-expressionist work I'm looking to frame and display by my nugget.
Isn't the bite mark bananas?

The bashful artist.

Patron of the Arts

Cy Twombly. Tate Modern.

Olive Huang. Le Meridien.

It's happening folks. I'm living the dream. The munchkin began creating some serious artwork while in Paris and London. The trip paid off! Get a load of that energy. That madness. I've got an accidental abstract expressionist on my hands, and I'm psyched. Children's artwork is the best.

I first came across Kathryn Lynch's paintings while browsing my favorite store in Los Angeles, Nickey Kehoe. I recall a painting of a sunset hanging there that made me smile. There is a childlike element in her translation of landscapes onto canvas - yet there is also a clear mastery of color and light in her work... *gasp* I returned to Nickey Kehoe to splurge and buy that piece (this was years ago) but it had already been sold... *sigh* Well, her latest series of tugboats and dog park observations continue to showcase her talent. I love her work and hope to own a piece someday.
