Lately

Back from Taiwan. In addition to battling jet-lag, I've been working to develop a children's variety show, entertaining an increasingly delightful and playful baby (love her so much), raising a middle-aged puppy (dat be you, Beans), and prepping for the holidays (sniff our live tree). It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Nuts o' Nuts

Olive begging for pistachios.
Look at that pathetic gaze.
Just like our dog, Beans.

There's a Puppy in the House

Olive: Daddy, daddy, Beans did it.
Le Hubby: *skeptical* (Rightfully so.)

Olive: Why won't you believe me?

Olive: Mommy?

Some of you have been wondering whether or not Beans and Olive have been getting along. Yes, folks. They have been. Royally. Beans understands there's a new puppy in the house and has been incredibly accommodating since her arrival. He sniffs Olive's belongings and tiny feet, but is fully-aware that everything munchkin-related is off-limits to him. We are very proud of him. The dynamic in our household has certainly changed - with the baby being priority one - and we're all learning to adjust. Le hubby and I try our best to let him know he's still very-much loved. At the same time, we uphold strict house rules for him.

Like us, Beans is scared of the baby. Especially when she cries. I don't blame him. I hear you, Beans. Olive's cry can be deafening. If I could fit under a chair or curl up and fit in a doggy bed (like Beans), I'd probably do the same...

Hot Bath

Beans has been an angel in the presence of my in-laws. We had warned him that Grandpa Huang would turn him into soup if he weren't well-behaved. Goofy pup took our advice to heart and has steered clear of the pot. Whew.

Buga-What?

Beans feigns interest as I consult him on the thrilling topic of baby cribs and strollers. He prays super-duper hard that he will receive a peanut butter filled pretzel in exchange for his services.

Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder

Beans is jealous of my plump physique.

It Takes Two to Make a Thing Go Right

I've been feeling nauseous, and as a result, have been bedridden for the past two days. Beans and visiting pal Molly have been keeping me company while I lay on the couch like lard. Puppy love makes everything better...

Saving All My Love For You

Beans doesn't have a playmate because le hub and I don't have the time to care for another pup. But this lil' guy (who belongs to interior designers Lindsay and Fitzhugh as featured on The Selby) is pretty darn cute and makes me want to put an end to Beans' only-child status. Hmm, this unnamed pup looks like a barker though. Meh. Beans, I think I'm just going to continue to save all my love for you. *SNIFF* (I just sniffed Beans. Mmm... Fritos.)

Never Let Me Go

... says Beans.

While le cub (yeah, he's back to being "le cub"), Beans stayed with our dog-walker friend, "Mr. J". Beans loves hangin' with Mr. J because doing so entails trips to Huntington Beach, hikes, dog parks, and more. PLUS, Mr. J has a dog himself. One named "Gunther". He's a Weimaraner, so the name "Gunther" is pretty darn close to perfection.

Anyhoo... Beans has been kind of mopey since his return home. No loss of appetite, no lack of interest in play... so he's not clinically depressed or anything. But we think he's been feeling a tad lonely since being separated from Gunther. We say "Gunther" and he gets all excited. Poor puppy. This happened when my bff was last in time and left with her dog, Shady. Beans misses having a playmate.

Going hiking today, so hopefully he'll forget about the fact that he's all by himself * cue the Celine Dion ballad*.

note: I really want to see this movie!!! huge carey mulligan fan here...

Scaredy Cat, Er Dog

My, what a fascinating dog... thinks Beans

Perhaps we can be friends... thinks Beans.

Me likes a good caboose... thinks Beans.

HOLY SHIT! cries Beans.

To be fair, this choo-choo does move fast.

The situation worries Beans.

Testing my Lionel train set (soon to be shot for "Til Death Do Us Part" in the living room :)

Salvaged

Beans' features tend to disappear in polaroid shots, so i took it upon myself to help him out. Happy Hump Day.

White Dog

Unlike most dogs, Beans knows that he's a dog. That said, I think Beans thinks that le cub is also a dog. A white dog. He gets jealous when I spend more time with "white dog" than I do with him. And when the white dog and I sit next to each other on our couch, Beans gets nervous and insists on being the sandwich stuffing. Hehe.

P.S. For those of you who aren't following, "le cub" is my fiance. He's a tad bit younger than me - which makes me his cougar :) RAWR!

Beans' Dream

... is my nightmare.

Because I love him so much, this toy, loaded with 16 LOUD squeakers was purchased earlier today. Needless to say, Beans is now a very happy dog.
