Oh Boy!

Watch Charlie pine after the little red-haired girl. "Charlie Brown Valentine" is playing on ABC this very moment. One of my favorite under-dogs. And ooh, "Office Space" is playing on Comedy Central. The perfect way to spend a rainy Saturday evening...

P.S. Photo of graffiti that reminds me of my own drawings. Taken last summer while visiting Barcelona.

Body Bomb

I like to hug the manfriend, countdown from 10, scream "BODY-BOMB!" and then fart. *tee-hee* I'm eew.

Sprout

Illustration Friday entry. Topic: Sprout. Peas sprout. Beans sprout. Hairs sprout. I'm not fond of visible armpit hair. Therefore when the unwanted little critters sprout from you-know-where, I'm quick to pluck 'em out with my Tweezerman. Yes, I pluck each and every hair out. It's more effective than shaving. Really! Mmm. I hope this entry doesn't gross anyone out.

Undeniable

I am a waste of space. I've said it once, and I'll say it again. I think I should pen a book. Judy Blume wrote "Tales of a Fourth-Grade Nothing". I think I can pull together the equivalent for the mid-20 nothing.

Mmm... Ahh.. Ooh...

Rachael Yamagata's rendition of "I Wish You Love" warms my insides on cold, wet days. Yesterday was one of those days.

Are We There Yet?

I can't wait to head back to Taipei, but I'm soooo going to miss Beans while away... *sniffle*

Spilling Over

Going to spend Sunday cleaning-out my closet. Too many items packed in too little space. Ebay will be soon be exhibiting some of my fantabulous midget-sized hand-me-downs. (I tower a mere five-feet.)

A Lot for a Little

Every two months, the manfriend treats me to a luxe meal of hotdog & pop at Coscto. We went this past Saturday. Mmm... love that processed meat.

Eek!

Am composing a Greatest Hits "album" for the manfriend (all drawn) for V-day. The mix-tape pic I posted yesterday shall act as the cover for my album. As for the contents... the contents of the mix-tape... it's all up to me! I've finished off 10 pics to date. Here's one of the manfriend exposing me to two of my greatest fears (nips and pits) in hopes of helping me overcome them. Needless to say, he failed.

P.S. RSA Show (a high-tech security conference) is taking place in San Francisco today and tomorrow. Will be at the Moscone Center supporting one of my portfolio companies, Authenex. Come on by our booth!

Labor of Love

The manfriend never checks this blog. Too bad, as he's been trying to figure out what I'm getting him/doing for him this Valentine's Day. Hint: See above doodle!

Feelin' Beachy

Took Beans to Ocean Beach (in San Francisco) yesterday afternooon. As it was his first time encountering sand, he excitedly, gulped a mouthful. Bleeeech!

Pictured: *Not* Ocean Beach--rather Waikiki Beach. Taken last year.

Minimalist

It really doesn't take too much to make me happy. Yet folks somehow manage to let me down...

How Sad

East Meets West

Went out for dinner with the manfriend last night.

Having tried and loved Cindy's previous sushi recommendation, Kabuto Sushi (on Geary), we decided to give her second recommendation a shot. Hama-Ko Sushi Restaurant (on Carl). V.homey... A hole-in-the-wall run by a Japanese mom & pop who don't even have a sign outside their restaurant, the restaurant maintains a low-profile while serving up v.fresh fish. Word to the wise, the owners only allow you to order ONCE. So order lots, because their fish slices are kinda' small. In fact, the manfriend and I left the place only 70% full--which is, if you think about it, kind of a bummer, as the whole point of eating out is to stuff yourself to the point of discomfort, isn't it? Anyhow, the two of us did manage to fill the physical void in our tummies by running over to the nearby Burgermeister afterwards. We shared a delicious strawberry milkshake. With extra maraschino cherries!

P.S. Photo of a Haribo gummy against a copy of "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius". Taken on my trip to Mykonos, Greece this past summer.

A Happy Worry

Under the influence of all the rings flashed across my television screen last night, I had a dream.

I was sitting in a cafe with the Santa Clara gals: Maria, Ems, and Pammy. Maria was showing me her engagement ring (lovely), Ems was talking about getting her classic solitaire ring fitted (nice), and then to my surprise, Pammy whipped one out as well. Needless to say my jaw-dropped. But only because the ring was hideous--resembling a mini stainless-steel watch band wrapped around her finger. And the diamond was set really high. Half an inch above the band. Apparently the ring was a made-to-order one. Meaning? Someone got creative. But even in the dream, Pammy possessed a good sense of humor. Upon seeing my reaction, she cracked-up--doing so with such intensity that tears began spewing.

Thoughts? Pammy. In order to prevent this particular dream from coming true, please advise all your men (hehe, yes, Pammy is quite the ho) to consult me before getting creative with any ring designing/purchasing as I do still recall the dream ring you showed me a year ago in Vegas...

Fun, Fun, Fun.

The Need to Feed

Going to bed hungry. Wish I had some Rocky Road ice-cream handy.

Scalp

I smell like scalp. (Does anyone know what I'm talking about?) I think I've been thinking too much.

Back-To-School

Heading back to the classroom tomorrow after work. Taking an accounting class through UCBerkeley Extension. Not exactly the ideal way to spend one's Wednesday evenings... oh well. Looking forward to my Thursday evenings though. Thursdays are all about Grey's...

My Greatest Fear

Nipples. Harry Potter needs to put some clothes on. Saw his beastly spread on perezhilton and am now scarred for life.

Have provided an image of a pudgy goldfish in hopes of off-setting the image Harry (hairy!) has forced upon us all.

Indispensable

Turns out I'm not a waste of space after all. Beans needs me!

Indecent

There's no sense of decency in Beans; he will fart whenever he feels liks it and stink up the entire room. My bad. I fed him carrots, cherry tomatoes and popcorn last night...

Brainstorm

Coming up with the "perfect" business card design for Peephole has been kind of difficult. I'll most likely opt for a clean and simple (but not boring--never boring) look, but for now, I shall share a loopy border doodle. Tah-dah!

Barbaro

Poor horse was put to sleep...
Pcitured: Work of Hugo Guinness

Plan B

I should probably start devising one. Admissions decisions for R2 applicants will be made for Berkeley Haas by 3/19 and for UCLA Anderson by 3/29. My stomach just flopped.

(On a happier note, a v.good friend of mine just received a job offer from Goldman Sachs. YAY you!)

Old School

Test drove the MINI Cooper S this morning. Didn't put the little guy through nearly as many stress tests as Charlize Theron did to her MINI in "The Italian Job", but I still managed to come to the conclusion that the MINI is an impressive piece of machinery! Very responsive and surprisingly powerful for a vehicle so teeny-tiny. And once chrome lining fixtures are put in, the dash has the potential of looking smashing. Now if I can only convince myself to let go of my current vehicle... which, by the way, is also lovely. And much safer...

Testing, Testing...

Am test driving a MINI Cooper tomorrow and am looking forward to the drive.

Lovely Day

After walking Beans and having breakfast with the manfriend earlier this morning, I ventured over to the Farmer's Market at the Ferry Building. Picked up some fresh veggies, some lovely cherry blossoms, and a book of botanical drawings by Hugo Guinness. As I headed on home, Stevie's "Sir Duke" ran through my head... *teehee* Tis a gorgeous day thus far...

Waste of Space

We are a waste of space.
(Pammy on the left and me on the right. We're in Carmel.)

The Perfect Bonbons

Kee's chocolates (of NYC) are good, but Woodhouse chocolates (of Napa Valley) are better. They're flawless.

Toothfairies

Do toothfairies visit puppies? I ask because I finally found one of Beans' lost teeth. Up until today, he's been swallowing most of them. I suppose he's finally realized that they aren't at all tasty.

Superhero

Illustration Friday entry. Topic: Super Hero. Meet Doughgirl. A concoction of sugar, spice, and everything nice, she combats the confused, carb-hating population with her irresistably fresh baguettes and chewy chocolate-chip cookies.

Mounds

Almond Joy's got nuts. Mounds don't.

Warning

Beans' babyteeth are coming out and his mouth now reeks of rotting teeth. Help!

Destination: NYC

Pictured: Beans wearing a Yankees bomber jacket I picked up in New York. Needless to say, he wasn't fond of his gift. "All the other dogs are going to laugh at me." That seemed to be the sentiment.

Was back in New York this past weekend, and boy, was it cold! I was last there in August (for Dave & Eliza's lovely wedding), and if I may recall, boy, was it hot! Yeah, I'm the Goldilocks of weather. Too hot. Too cold. Is the weather in New York ever "just right"? Believe it or not, yes! I find the temperatures around late-August and early-September lovely! Take-a-stroll-in-the-park-with-yummy-coffee weather. Anyway, despite the weather, I enjoyed my brief stay. Was able to catch up with some of my old college friends and my cousin Jen over some good eats. Indulged in bison sliders at ski-lodge themed restaurant/lounge, Aspen, Panamanian tapas at Calleocho, classic bagel with cream cheese at Lenny's on the West Side, and couture chocolates at Kee's in Soho. Hmm. I should probably go work out now.

Overcompensating

Joined a gym on Monday and have been there twice already. Yay me! I have, however, also been overcompensating for all calories lost through my consumption of "nian-gao" (chinese rice cakes that are nothing like American rice cakes--our's are carb-ful). *tsktsktsk* I'm so naughty.

Favorite Joke 1

Q: What's the difference between snowmen and snowwomen?
A: Snowballs!!!

Btw, I caught American Idol earlier this evening and totally dug lil' Sanjaya's take on Stevie Wonder. Go Sanjaya, go!

G-G-G-Genius!

An update on Beans. He now responds to the following commands: sit, shake, down, roll-over, fetch, and stay. The manfriend and I ended up home-schooling him. Hehehe. Like most spelling-bee champs.

Another thing. In my remove-from-the-newstands-by-January-22nd issue of People magazine, there is a mentioning of the death of a very important person. Momofuku Ando, who invented the college staple instant ramen noodles in 1958, recently died at 96 in Japan. *snifflesniffle* R.I.P., Momo. I owe you so much.

P.S. I have a soft spot for photos of Beans blinking.

Miso Happy

They're happy too! (Mr.Hung and Mr.Debs)

My MLK weekend was deliciously fun. San Francisco was mighty chilly this past week, so when the manfriend informed me of an invite to his friend's place for hotpot Friday night, I literally squealed. *teehee* Had another amaaaazing meal on Saturday with the manfriend and my cousin Cindy. We went to Kabuto's (Geary & 15th) for crazy-good sushi. We waited over an hour in the cold before we were seated. Vulturing (yes, I made that word up) over other restaurant patrons did not work. Think our inconsiderate behavior actually led them to linger longer. Damn udon eaters! (No offense to udon. We all "heart" udon.) Funny fact about Cindy: When she gets really excited she closes her eyes and wags her "tail" (ass)! *teehee#2* Finally, Sunday. Omigosh, Sunday. The manfriend had sent me a Hoops & Yoyo e-card notifying me of a Sunday surprise. I was told to dress warmly and to be ready for an early pick-up at 7am. YES. 7 in the morn! The surprise? Read: A morning horseback ride along Half Moon Bay accompanied by my bff Pammy and her boyfriend, "Mr.Debs". And there's more!!! Fancy-shmancy brunch at the Ritz-Carlton afterwards--with a guest appearance from Mr.Hung! I don't deserve to be this happy. I really don't. But I am! YAY!

P.S. I owe y'all a doodle. I know. It's coming.

Cheese

Twenty-seven year-old gal pals shaking booty to pop music sung in falsetto. Sexy so ain't back. Yet tis the scene to be seen later this evening as Pammy and I venture over to HP Pavillion to catch Justin Timberlake's FutureSex/LoveSounds concert. Pathetic? Yeah, we know. But he's our guilty-pleasure, so let us be.

Really bummed that I'll be missing the return of my beloved Grey's. Luckily the manfriend (in exchange for homecooked fried rice) will be providing me with all the juicy details upon my return home. That and abc.com's evenings posts of previously aired episodes. I "heart" video-streaming technology!

Evening Out

The manfriend took me to the San Francisco Symphony earlier this evening (probably with hopes to instill a bit of culture in yours truly). It was a last minute decision (to go, that is) and I am very glad we went. I had a deliciously good time for three reasons: One, the program was entertaining. A mix of Mendelssohn, Bruch, and R.Strauss with famed violinist Sarah Chang making a guest appearance. (Dude, that Sarah Chang. What a beast. In reference to her talent, of course.) Two, the manfriend and I had a uber-close view of the orchestra. We sat in the first row! Acoustically, our seats probably weren't the best in house. But boy, classical music sure gets interesting when you're sitting as close to the performers as we were. Bow strings were flying! Three, the guest conductor was Kurt Masur. He's such a cute, old, *fuzzy* man. Random information: Ken Masur, Kurt's son, graduated from Columbia the same year as I did (2001). In fact, he lived in the same dormitory as I did my senior year (Shapiro), and actually lived right across the hall. Never got to know the kid, but I do remember that he used to roam the hallways wearing cartoon-print PJs that were ever too short on him (both sleeves and pant legs). Right. Just thought I'd share.

Unrequited Love

Said Charlie Brown, "Nothing takes the taste out of peanut butter quite like unrequited love."
I couldn't agree more.

Monday Blues

Even Beans doesn't like Mondays! (I think.)
Pictured: Beans a month ago. When he still had his baby fat! He no longer looks like this, but he's still very cute.

(Mis)education

I've been reading this fantastic book titled "The Know-It-All" by A.J. Jacobs and have been learnings lots of random information. ("The Know-It-All" chronicles the author's hilarious, enlightening, and seemingly impossible quest to read the Encyclopaedia Britannica from A to Z.) Some of the knowledge I've accumulated thus far?
1) Rene Descartes had a fetish for women with crossed-eyes.
2) Dogs have a third eyelid to protect the eyeball from irritants.
3) Abalones have 5 assholes.
Yes, if y'all must know, I do feel smarter with each chapter devoured.

Oh Christmas Tree

Poor things. Pulled out of my lot this morning and bore witness to a four tree pile-up next to the dumpster. *sniffle*

Something's Better Than Nothing

Me: One more! Two more! *huff huff puff puff *
Beans: *sniff-sniff* Hmm. No sweat!

Last night, nestled on my couch in the company of the manfriend and two infuriatingly-annoying (but also ridiculously-adorable) puppies, I tried hatching up New Year's resolutions that would not only be challenging but feasible as well. (God only knows how many resolutions I've broken in the past; I'm not particularly militant when it comes to self-promises.) Unable to come up with anything fresh, I have decided to improve upon past ones (read more, exercise more, listen more, draw more... a lot of "mores"). Should I fail them, no biggie. So long that I try, all will be good. For something is almost always better than nothing, no?
