Oh, Christmas Tree
Le hub and I hit up Lowes this past weekend in hopes of hunting down the perfect little tree. We returned home with a pottled lil' guy. (NOT the ginormous one pictured above. Though he can be seen at The Americana in Glendale.) Ooh. Back to our tree. Le hub named him "Archer." (I'd post a photo of Archer, but he's looking pretty naked at the moment. Give me a few days...)
I try to buy one new ornament representative of le hub, me and Beans each year, and well... BEHOLD!!! This year's selections, in all their sparkly, deceivingly-non-edible, glory: a pickle for me, a cookie for le hub, and a hot dog for Beans...

Seasons Greetings
Saving All My Love For You
Beans doesn't have a playmate because le hub and I don't have the time to care for another pup. But this lil' guy (who belongs to interior designers Lindsay and Fitzhugh as featured on The Selby) is pretty darn cute and makes me want to put an end to Beans' only-child status. Hmm, this unnamed pup looks like a barker though. Meh. Beans, I think I'm just going to continue to save all my love for you. *SNIFF* (I just sniffed Beans. Mmm... Fritos.)
Bah Humbug
Nooooot.
Christmas shopping 2010. All frickin' done! Le cub and I make for an extremely efficient duo :) Couldn't resist picking up a sparkly piece for myself along the way. (As my wedding gown revealed, I've never met a sequin I didn't like.) I'm not really a party gal, but I sure as hell will find an excuse to bust this bad-ass baby out while I'm back in Taipei. Post-wedding-reception fun?!?

Say Cheese!
Overloaded on cheesecake this past weekend. To think that I didn't even like cheesecake... that was until I tasted the homemade pumpkin and key-lime goodness of my friends, Laura and Robby. Holy-shit incredible. Incredible, I tell ya!
But le cub and cougar wedding part duex is coming up. I should probably lay off the sweets lest all the cheesecake that I've been indulging in make an unwelcome guest-appearance on December 17th. Damn you, muffin top!

Black Friday
My brave cub has decided to brave the populated streets of downtown Burbank in order to take advantage of Black Friday sales. I, meanwhile, am patiently (more like lazily) awaiting all the kick-ass sales to come on Cyber Monday. Pity that our wireless router has been malfunctioning as of late. How am I supposed to compete with all the other web-browsers on Monday if my connection's subpar?!? Beans would fix the problem for me... but he doesn't have any thumbs.

So Much to be Thankful For
My crazy, but ultimately loving family. Yep, that's my dad. I'm a spitting image :) Here we are at my wedding enjoying our father-daughter dance to "You're Nobody Til Somebody Loves You"...
My dog, Beans. I love my furry son so much, it really does hurt. To love so intensely, that is.
My cub. Words can't describe how lucky I am to have found such a kind, patient and funny partner-in-crime. Oh wait. Using words to describe how lucky I am. That's what I'm doing now, huh? D'oh.
Wishing you all a Thanksgiving as happy as mine.

Jump the Gun
The rosemary necessary to complete the Captain's Thanksgiving recipe has gone missing. He suspects that his wife, Lulu Limon, has swiped it. Having once again mistaken it for a Christmas tree...
Once Upon a Time
Le cub and I were married on August 28th, but we've yet to see our wedding photos! (We've also yet to see our full-length wedding video... but I suppose these are the unforeseen costs of hiring totally-awesome-but-uber-high--in-demand photogs and videographers for one's big day.) No biggie. I just hope this means that Max is going to make us look that much more awesome... because visuals of that day are unfortunately fading away in our feeble minds. Max did send over a handful for my parents to use at our December reception back in Taiwan. Here's one for kicks. Can't wait to blow it up...

An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away
I eat at least one apple a day, but that still doesn't keep the doctors away. A couple months ago (during le cub and cougar honeymoon in Italy), I discovered a strange bump that'd grown on my left wrist. Being the resourceful gal that I am, I logged on to webMD and diagnosed myself while in Rome. Turns out I've grown myself a cyst (Dude, you're not welcome here!) and that cyst could either be harmful or harmless. Yowza. But my two MD cousins touched it with their fingers and declared it harmless - as did a third doctor pal. But all three also suggested that I go get an MRI "in the near future" just to be 100% certain that I don't have any funky tumor growth occurring in my lil' bod. So yeah. I'm going to the doc's tomorrow. Not looking forward to the experience. Will be thankful when it's over!

Wrap Star
Wrapping gifts with fashion magazines. Awesome. Topping the gifts off with polaroids of Beans? Sawesome! (Sawesome = So Awesome. From the creative vocabulary of one Lil' Miss Sherman.)

Alex Katz is so fuckin' awesome that he can get away with entire exhibitions of self-portraits. Seriously. Who does that? Alex Katz, that's who. Self-indulgent work available via www.artnet.com.

Find Me in the Stacks
Working on what swill be the very last research paper I will ever have to write. Omigaaaawd! These next two weeks are going to be painful, but once they're over, I'll be incredibly relieved. Am a super duper proud card holder of the Burbank Public Library and The Getty Research Library. That's right suckas! I'm a nerd, and proud of it.

Aloha
Spent a brief but relaxing weekend in Maui with le husband. Was there for an old friend's wedding (congratulations, Jude & Danny!!!) which just so happened to coincide with my 31st birthday. Didn't get to explore the island as much as we'd hoped, but needless to say, had a totally fab weekend. Mmm... spam musubi! Can't wait to return...

I Hit Pause
Veteran's Day. Thank you, good men and women, for protecting me and Beans from evil-doers. And thank you, US government, for making today a holiday. Working on a paper while tucked in my cozy bed. AHHHH...
Maui's just around the corner. Tomorrow, for that matter. Le hub and I are going for the weekend to attend a wedding and to celebrate my 31st. Lucky-lucky me.

The Dark Side
Watched dailies from last week's day-for-night cinematography shoot this morning, and they turned out great! *Whew* Whoever said it's difficult working with animals clearly never worked with Puffy. He was a real trooper. Even as my co-DP (Director of Photography), Jeremy, pulled his eye out for the shoot... not a single complaint. As for the head o' curls, that'd be Chill Charlie...

Crabs

Me, Alexis, and Napoleon crabbing. Thank you, Jeff (the dude I Fatboothed), for filming our monumental act. She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain When She Comes
Birthday's coming up. I'm turning 31. I suppose this means that I will officially be a "thirty-SOMETHING." Thing is, 99.99% of the time, I don't mind aging at all. My late-20s were so much more fulfilling and drama-free than the years that preceded them. *whew* But every now and then - like today - I can't help but sit around wallowing in self-pity, asking myself, "Where did all the time go?" and "Why the hell are you still such a freakin' waste of space?" I've still got many unfulfilled dreams to satisfy, and the thought of my never being able to achieve them makes me sad. I think I need a Kit Kat.
Today's a Monday. That's all I've got to say.

Later Bloomer
House Hunters
le hub and i attended our first open house today. though we'd set out to scour residences in silver lake or los feliz, we opted to check out this post and beam home in "the hills" (cue cheesy natasha bedingfield music) because its listing photos and descriptions were way too beautiful. (i love-love-LOVE mid-century modern open-plan homes. so great for entertaining!) but as lovely as this tree-house home is, its location (not pictured) was a deal breaker for us. the canyon made us feel a tad claustrophobic. the house is located on a road with no sidewalks for beans. there's a cool, but ultimately strange creek that runs along the back of the home. and the nearby school district (should we decided to launch a uterus bomb into the world) isn't very good. alas, the search continues. didn't leave empty-handed though. i nabbed a raspberry tootsie roll. that was nice.
Pow Wow
Missing Piece
my bff, hammy, is moving to taiwan. yep, she has decided to be a waste of space in a place way across the ocean because her husband's career is based there. *sigh* while i am happy for their success (i have no doubt that their joint efforts will lead to success), i can't help but feel sad that i will no longer be able to call up my pammy ten times a day to chat about body hair, dogs, and our husbands. luckily, we no longer live in the stone-age and will be able to chat online... which leads me to think... wouldn't it be awesome if i were to build a little phone/photo booth with an assortment of backgrounds that i could step into and call her from? kinda' like the one peewee (of peewee's playhouse) used to have. couldn't find a video of him in his booth, but i did manage to locate one of my favorite pee wee moments. (watch video.) pee wee makes ice-cream soup!!! genius. pammy, you get that?!
gosh, i don't know how i went from missing pammy to missing pee wee. either way, i'm missing...

Muppet Babies
a vintage photo of le cub and his siblings on halloween - courtesy of le cub's sister (also MY sister) jenny. how cute are they?!? that they're using happy meal packaging as their means of toting about their spoils makes this photo that much better...
oh yeah. in case you were wondering, le cub's the one dressed as kermit :)

I Want my MTV
the brilliant joel serrato has finished editing the short-version of our wedding video. click HERE to watch. (The short-version is focused more on us, and less so on the rest of the wedding ceremony. will post the long-version as well when i receive it!) le cub and i aren't the most photogenic couple, but i think joel did a fantastic job making do with his non supermodel subjects. the colors and music truly bring us back to that happy day. we blush when we watch it. a million thanks to the wonderful joel.

Phat
i don't usually buy apps for my iphone. in fact, up until last week, i'd only ever paid for one - hipstamatic. but my bff hammy recommended that i buy an app for my iphone called fatbooth. since downloading it, i've been fatboothing everything and everyone.
pictured: my good friend, jeff. he went straight to the gym after i fatboothed him.
