While You Were Sleeping
Dear Munchkin,
Babies incubate for 9-months because that's exactly how long it takes for mamas and papas-to-be to get their "caca" together.
Over these past 2 weeks, I have been researching all sorts of baby "caca." CRIBS, for example. We got you this one. With the most important baby item down, your pop and I are now gearing up to plan your munchkin sleeping quarters. Though usually partial to a muted palette of grays and beige *yes, your parents are boring* we hope to offer you, munchkin, something brighter, bolder, and happier. A little color never hurts anyone. While you were sleeping, I saved a couple of reference images. Baby girl, I hope you "likee" the direction we're going...
Le color palette: a little bit of everything. Was inspired by the suite we stayed at last weekend at The Parker in Palm Springs:
I'd like to bring some much-needed color into your soon-to-be big life. Baskin Robbins' Chocolate Mint green could make for a delicious wall color. Wouldn't you say?

Not feeling it? How 'bout a calming sky blue?

Now, in order to keep your space edgy, we'll need to incorporate RED. HOT PINK. BLACK. Check out this shot of the Kate Spade store in San Francisco. Fierce, huh? *Beans nods head*

I'll be posting a mood board soon...

She Works Hard for the Money
Have finished restoring yet another old Spanish complex. This one's in Atwater Village - an area in Los Angeles, conveniently sandwiched between Glendale and Silver Lake. Two beds, one bath. Fantastic light and a lush yard put in by us good folks at LocalConstruct. It's got a kick-ass avocado tree at back that will make you gasp. (I'm totally staging that baby with a tree swing.) It's not yet listed on the MLS, but here's a lil' preview of what's to come...

Watch THIS before reading the rest. Just 'cuz. It'll make your day. I promise.
So uh, yeah. Le hubs and I have been looking into cribs and strollers for our unborn weirdo. It's hard to believe that something so little needs so freaking much! Anyhow, Our crib choices have been narrowed down, and we've been considering this over-priced jail house by Stokke:
The Caravan Crib by Kalon Studios is another fab and funky option:
And then there was THIS:
Faux fur sweatshirt by Talc available at Smallable.
It's shit-in-your-pants adorable, no? Yeah, I think so.

Belly Nice
Tah-dah! Le cougar and cub's rehabbed kitchen and breakfast nook! We've since plopped this-and-that here-and-there (think pillows, rugs, mats and bowls) so it's no longer looking so stark. But wah-lah. The finished product. Much thanks to Tim (of Shepphird Associates) for helping us bring our vision to life :)

I've Got the Power
So um, my pop emailed me the top photo earlier this week. It's a snapshot of him with his siblings. He's the chubby one seated in the middle.
Pictured below is well, a photo of two photos. To the left, my pop. To the right, yours truly. Spitting image, much?
The Chow family genes are pretty damn powerful, wouldn't you say? Those worried "what'd-I-do" brows can even be seen on our dog, Beans. I hope le husband knows what he's getting into...

Feelings
Folks keep asking whether or not I have a "feeling" about the sex of the baby. Truth of the matter is, this "feeling" that some mamas-to-be get has yet to hit me. Kinda' like growth spurts at puberty. Look, all I know is that I've been indulging in boat loads of lemonade and hickory smoked gouda like no other. (So I exaggerate.) Perhaps this child is part mouse?
Whatever. Beans likes that I indulge in gouda. He gobbles up the waxy edges. I cut 'em off with the world's most beautiful cheese knife by Georg Jensen. Yup. I binge in style.
