Satisfaction Guaranteed

To those who follow "Grey's" but have yet to catch up via Tivo: Spoiler Alert. Do not read on!

To those who were fortunate enough to watch the show in real time: How satisfying was last night's episode?! I was fist-pumping with glee as previews of next week's episode were running and the manfriend thought I'd gone mad. Had been hoping the writers would bring McSteamy back! Just didn't think they'd fulfill my wishes so soon. A fantastic way to end (well, nearly end) the work week.

To those who don't follow "Grey's" at all: Apologies for the odd display of enthusiasm. I am a sick-sick person.

Guts

"Only a fool tests to see how deep the water is with both feet." - African proverb

Thought I'd acknowledge the fact that this drawing was poorly executed. Showed this drawing to my manfriend last night and this was the response I received. MF=manfriend. Me=me.

MF: What are those triangles?
Me: They're sharks!
MF: And those blobs?
Me: Land mass!
MF: Is that a chicken?
Me: Maaaaayn... you don't get it? *Pout*
MF: You need more ripples. Current. To make it look like water.
Me: What? You mean you couldn't tell that I'd drawn water? Grr!

Say It Ain't So!

Last night, the manfriend proudly displayed photos of the aneurysm he'd recently clipped all by himself. While I typically do not ask him very many questions about his work (because one, I don't know what to ask him about, and two, I do not wish to stress him out at home), this time I decided to give it a go. Was disappointed to find that his workplace is nothing like that which is displayed on "Grey's Anatomy." Even more disappointed to find that Seattle Grace is not a real hospital. No! Gosh, I now know how Pammy felt upon discovering that churros aren't baked but fried. So sad.

Chubby Yet Hungry

They're only four weeks old in this photo but they're already massive! Check out the chubbiest black puppy (one with the turquoise collar that I'd unofficially named "Biggie.") Christine's been calling him "Thunder"--which actually is a more than perfect name for him. Think Thunder's even managed to out-size Stanley (the lone yellow pup)! Will be visiting the chubby puppies again this weekend. I cannot wait.

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Well, nearly. Fall's around the corner and that makes me very happy. Can't wait to bust out my tweeds, leathers, and knits. Also can't wait to bust out the mini-marshmallows! They go so well with good cocoa...

Hmm.

Accompanied the manfriend to one of his work-related social functions yesterday. A classy pool party of McDreamys! (Note: "McDreamy" is to be equated with "neurosurgeons," not "Patrick Dempseys." Sorry for the tease). Why not, I thought. So off we went. Everyone in attendance (doctors, spouses, and children) was lovely. I felt a bit left out though as I was and am neither a doctor, spouse nor child. Then again, I spent a good amount of time chatting with his colleagues whilst consuming a sugary kiddy beverage out of a straw. Nice going.

Headed For Trouble

I have so much already yet I want even more. V.bad-v.bad. Tsk-tsk-tsk! Perhaps if I list everything I want right here I won't actually run out and buy it all? And to think this is just a short-list:

1) Morning bun from Tartine Bakery (Pictured. Yum)
2) Jean Prouve standard chair
3) Suspender top from APC (sold out in my size or I would've gone ahead and done the deed)
4) Geometric kilim rug from Anthropologie
5) La Perla bra (I hear they do wonders. Oh boy, is that too much information?)

Have a nice weekend...

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

Those who know me know that I am obsessive compulsive. That said, the following is a list of noteworthy "things" I've been compulsively obsessing over as of late:

1) Black labs. Photos below are self-explanatory, no?

2) Grey's Anatomy. "I'm in love with you. I've been in love with you forever. Take all the time you need, because you have a choice to make. And I when I had a choice to make, I chose wrong." Was hating McDreamy all of last season, but he's redeemed himself this time around. Well, at least for now. Love-love-love that Seattle Grace.

3) PBJ sandwiches. My amazonian height (of five feet) can be attributed to the 6 years spent consuming PBJ sandwiches back in elementary school. Ma made me make my own lunch, and PBJ sandwiches were apparently all that I knew how to make and pretty much all that I liked. Still loving them. For breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack. Yay. Skippy Chunky Peanut Butter is the way I like to go.

4) Hippo Vans. The manfriend thinks they're "kind of ugly," but I think they're fantastic! Bought a pink-black pair with Theresa and Pammy last night and was beaming the entire car ride home.

5) Pams. She was so excited to see me last night that her armpits began to sweat. (Pictured above: Pammy fanning her pits.) Puhahahaha. No, seriously, what's not to love about a girl who dons scrubs as she watches Grey's? I've missed you, Pammy-Pam.

Heartwarming

Top three photos are of "Beans"... (Aww, I'll be so sad if I don't get him now.) Fourth photo is of "Biggie" (his unofficial name... I bestowed it upon him because he's the biggest--fattest-of the three black boy pups, and the last photo is of "BB3" (Black Boy 3. He's a cutie as well. I just didn't get to spend any time with him). Say AWWWWWWW...

What's the Point?

Ahh... must there be one? Two nights ago I had a conversation with my bff, Pammy about LIFE. Pams has been in search of meaning to her's... and me? As my previous entries tell, I've been perfectly happy living amidst blissful puppy-filled ignorance and not really examining all that is before me. An apparently unwise life-strategy as "the life which is unexamined is not worth living" (words of wiseman Socrates and not of mine). That said, Pammy, this friend of your's, not wanting to lead a life not worth living, has since been examining. And reexamining. Will share my insight on LIFE (such a big topic I think it's only fair that I cap it) with you and TP over a yummy dinner two days from now. And in the meantime, I leave you all with the above sketch of Pammy and me in Hawaii discovering the fact that pineapples do not actually grow high-up on trees, rather way-low on bushes. Note: We look nearly identical aside from the hair-do, and that is because (1) people are always telling us we look similar--whatever, Pammy, you're the Betty and I'm the Rhoda--and (2) it makes for a cuter composition, no?

Practice Makes Perfect

An old sketch I'd drawn of me babysitting my best friend, Pam's yorkie, Shady. She's a pooping-peeing machine.

Gaseous Little One

Still waiting to hear back from the breeder regarding puppy assignments. The name of the puppy remains dependent on the puppy my manfriend and I are ultimately assigned to. I know I shouldn't be playing favorites at this point, but I'm really hoping to land the one I held longest this past Saturday. Gaseous little puppy was farting and purring as the manfriend and I rubbed his teeny body. If that shameless little one should join our home, we plan to introduce him to the world as "Beans"...

Student of the Month

Attended the first of two classes I signed up for through UC Berkeley Extension last night. Am hoping the experience will help wet my feet and prep me for what may come should I actually gain admissions to an MBA program Fall 2007. It's been a while since I last sat in a classroom. Three hours is a long time to keep still.

Little Miss Sunshine

If only we'd stop trying to be happy we could have a pretty good time. ~Edith Wharton.

I'm so happy lately, I'm starting to worry my parents. The Ma & Ba tend to equate happiness to complacency, and to become complacent when one has yet to earn six-figures is a big no-no in this gung-ho family. But yes, once miserable and brooding, I am now peppy and glowing. The source of the joy? Oh, I don't know... perhaps it's my could-do-no-wrong-at-this-point manfriend who provides me with an unending supply of chocolate, quality-time spent goofing off with my favorite cousins, Jen and Cindy, or ooh, perhaps it "the puppy" (just thinking or saying "puppy" leaves me somewhat speechless but smiling.

Met the entire litter this weekend. I did, I did! The manfriend and I drove to Sonoma early Saturday morning and "like, omigod!" I literally gasped when I saw and held them. They were, they are, that adorable. Yelping blobs of fur! Lacking strength in their limbs to walk, the five puppies resembled mini beached whales as they flopped inefficiently towards their foodbank, mama, Nugget. Even Christine, the breeder, a warm, funny, and informative woman, cooed over the furballs with us. I cannot wait to take my baby lab home. Estimated delivery date is October 21st. I've got an entire month left to go! Noooo! Needless to say, I will be back out in Sonoma two weeks from now to check on the pups again. By then, I will know which baby boy will be mine. Only then will I be able to release his name. The manfriend and I have two picked out...

True Love

Tomorrow looks to be one of 'em longer days. There is much to take care of at work. Plus, my dear cousin, Jen will be in town for the weekend. Not wanting to scare her, I should probably tidy up my apartment. All this said, I have decided to post tomorrow's doodle a tad bit earlier.

Folks, it's happening, it's happening... I cannot believe it's finally happening! For those of you who are out of the loop, I, Debra Chow, am proud to announce that I, at the tender age of 26 (nearly 27) will finally be getting my very first dog! The manfriend and I have been on a waitlist for an English Labrador Retriever puppy from Gingerbred Labradors for quite some time now, and about two weeks ago, while vacationing in Mykonos, a litter of five was born to parents, Nugget and Tigger. Will be driving up to Sonoma this coming Saturday to visit the furry delights. I wonder if the puppies eyes will be open by then! I already know the color of my pup. HE (yes, it's a boy!) is black. (The litter consisted of one yellow pup and four black ones.) While I won't be taking the pup home anytime soon (the responsible breeder, Christine, doesn't release her pups until 10 weeks post birth), I am, nevertheless, giddy with excitement. It's always been a dream of mine to have a dog of my very own. I vow to be the very best mama to this puppy I could possibly be...

Yucky

What cough remedies actually taste like: Shiiiiet. Still not completely well. Grr... I hate being sick.

Yummy

What cough remedies *should* taste like: Nutella...

I Need a Vacation

That's right. You heard my plea... I need a vacation for my vacation! Am back in the Bay Area (have been so since the evening of 9/11) and am desperately trying to make up for lost time at work. Am thrilled to be sleeping in my own bed once again... driving my own car again... and ooh, having access to lots of fruit and veggies again! Have much to share about my travels through Greece and Spain with my partner-in-crime, Tiff, and even more to spill about Angie & Mike's fairytale wedding in Italy. It was incredible. Unfortunately the updates will have to wait...
